Newport by Jill Morrow is a historical mystery set in Newport, Rhode Island in the Roaring Twenties. Attorney Adrian de la Noye has a wealthy elderly client, Bennett Chapman, who has decided to revise his will. Adrian travels with his young assistant Jim Reid to the Chapman family's luxurious "summer cottage" in Newport. There the attorneys meet Bennett Chapman's son Nicholas and daughter Chloe, who are contesting changes to their father's will. When he meets Bennett's much younger fiancée Catharine Walsh, and her niece Amy, past and present collide unexpectedly for Adrian. When he last saw Catharine, they were both much younger; now he and Catharine both wish to keep their pasts secret. But the issue of contesting the will cannot be resolved without unearthing secrets from the past, for the Chapman family as well as for Adrian and Catharine. Rich period detail enhances the story, as plot twists slowly uncover the solution to a decades-old mystery.
