One Room Challenge Vintage Chic Eclectic Retreat!
Well, it’s here! The October 2016 One Room Challenge, hosted by Linda of Calling It Home and I couldn’t be more excited!! I decided to join in and participate again because I had so much fun doing our Kitchen Makeover in the Spring. You can see what we did then, by clicking here. For this Challenge, I decided to expand our Living Space and create what I’m calling a Vintage Chic Eclectic Retreat! Sounds good, right? Ok, read on to see where I’m headed with this!
As with all my projects, design ideas and DIY’s this will be a budget-friendly experience. If you follow me here on my Blog and on Instagram, you know I’m all about the deals! You also know that I have a serious love for all styles, especially Vintage, Industrial, and Farmhouse…which ultimately when said and done, creates an Eclectic style too! So that brings us to the Vintage Chic Eclectic Retreat!
Here is my Idea Board!
What do you think??? Living in Florida, we can use our outdoor spaces longer than most. In the summer, they are strictly early morning and evening gathering spots. In the cooler months, we can use them all day long. We also live in the country so the views are beautiful and being outside is my favorite place to relax. So I decided to tackle our back porch. It’s very large and screened in so it’s like a sunroom without the windows. The first photo is “during the screening in process” a couple years ago.
One thing I have to work on is taking good “before” photos! I get so excited I forget to. Unfortunately, I’ve stashed some of the items I’m using in this space so I can’t take them now or I’d spoil the surprise. This next pic will give you an idea of the screening and the view.
So there you have it…we are starting out with a standard, framed-in room, with a beautiful country setting. It has been a great spot for an occasional potting bench and some chairs, a little table, and of course my painting and DIY projects at times.
Since this room is off the Living Room and Kitchen area with two sets of French Doors leading out, I wanted to create a real room. With space for lounging, a corner for my gardening and potting bench and lots and lots of relaxation and hanging out with friends and family. What’s any good decorator to do…start scouring Pinterest for ideas. Check out some of my Inspiration Pictures.

Aren’t all of these images just beautiful! I love the chippy Vintage look, the relaxed and whimsical Boho look and of course the Modern and Industrial feel. My goal is to take elements from all and create a cohesive place I’ll never want to leave. Of course, I don’t have huge beams overhead or stone walls and unlimited funds. This will be a challenge of creativity and smart shopping!
Well, I think I’ve given you enough of a teaser. I need to finish up my To-Do List and get busy! Please be sure to follow me on my Blog and on Instagram, so you can get an update each week on this project. I’ll be sure to note sources and document the progress along the way! I hope to inspire you to tackle a space in your home as well! Be sure to check out the other participants and Designers in the One Room Challenge so graciously hosted by Linda at Calling It Home!
See you Next Week!
