Time Out! #69 - "Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart"

This is a very old SU! stamp set that was offered in Country Living Magazine (maybe 2006). SU! did a Thanksgiving article using these stamps and showing how one could make invitations and place cards. If I remember correctly you had to order through the magazine and the set included mini inks and paper. This set has not been used before. I began by coloring the stamps with SU! markers and spritzing with water onto watercolor paper and flicked a little bit of watered down ink. This piece was adhered to really rust cs. Next I stamped and heat embossed this elegant sentiment onto white cs. The card needed something else so I stamped with pumpkin pie ink this grid stamp from MFT. I mounted onto a second piece of white cs.

Do you recognize these ladies?

Well of course you recognize Anita (from France) on the right and that is moi on the left. Did we meet in Minnesota? Or did we meet in the airport? NO. We met in Bordeaux, France. Really.

My husband and I took a long-awaited vacation to France, which was on the top of my bucket list. My mother (English) was raised in SW France and my father (American) fought in Normandy during WWII. Anita and her brother Dominic live about 1 1/2 hours from Bordeux and that is where my husband and I stayed for two nights. How wonderful that the Raffos traveled the journey to meet us. They arrived at around 4 pm, and my honey was on a wine tour, so the three of us sat in the lobby until the mister returned. For the next four hours the four of us talked and then talked some more. Our conversations ran from American politics to cars (the guys) to washi tape, and everything in between. We took a short walk from the hotel and had a lovely dinner of steak, French fries and French wine, and of course talked some more. A lovely visit with two charming and interesting people.

Meeting Anita and Dominic was one of the highlights of the trip. I am grateful that they took the time to travel and meet us. The entire evening was truly delightful and I thank them.

  1. Now this is one of the techniques (colouring/spritzing/stamping) that we talked about, Barb ... and you've used it to perfection here! The variegated colour on those leaves is gorgeous ... so deliciously autumnal ... and I love how you've highlighted that wonderful sentiment with the grid! Delighted to have you playing along with us at Time Out with this beauty! Our get together ... your account of those fabulous hours (which passed all too quickly!) had me smiling all over my face ... what a wonderful time we had with you and Cal ... such lovely memories! Here's to the next time! Hugs, Anita :)
