I'm starting a new monthly post about books! In my Media Monday post (the first Monday of each month), I talk about what I've been reading and listening too. I just love sharing what my latest reads are because I always get great suggestions for future reading in the comments.
This post will be a little different because I have NOT read these books. These are new books being released this month that are headed to my "to be read" list. I always look at the Amazon editors' picks for the month, along with the new release list. I also like to take a look at the British book stores (WHSmith and Waterstones) to see if there's anything new there. They often promote different books than what becomes popular here at home.
So after looking at those sources, I will make a New Books post each month. I hope you'll find something new that looks interesting!
There There
- A debut novel that is getting lots of press and good reviews. It talks about modern Native Americans in Oakland, California. The story has a range of characters of all ages, and revolves around a big pow wow meeting.
When Life Gives You Lululemons
- OK, this one had me with the title. The assistant from A Devil Wears Prada is now in her 30's and navigating the suburbs. This looks like the perfect beach read.
The Perfect Couple - I love an Elin Hilderbrand book, especially in the summer. This one is something new for her, a murder mystery. Of course, it is set in Nantucket!
Social Creature - A dark and addictive thriller set in New York City. It is described as a tale of obsession and intense friendship set in the digital age. Since I have been reading lots of thrillers, it might be awhile before I tackle this one.
Something in the Water - This debut is the new pick from Reese Witherspoon. It's a psycological thriller set on a couple's honeymoon in Bora Bora. They discover something startling and then have to decide how to deal with it.
Match Making for Beginners - First of all, I love the cover. This is a light romance about a girl whose marriage ends after just two weeks. Her husband's match making great aunt predicted this. When the aunt dies, the girl takes over her brownstone and her matchmaking business. Lots of romantic lessons ensue.
The Myth of Perpetual Summer
- From the author of Whistling Past the Graveyard
, this is a coming of age tale set in 1960's Mississippi.
The Kiss Quotient - This romance is described as fresh and steamy. A 30-year old successful career woman is not good at social situations. She hires an escort to teach her the ropes and romance follows.
I hope you found some new book titles that sound interesting!
