Psalm 19:1--The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handywork.

I wish to apologize to anyone who may be having trouble making comments on my posts. I appreciate your visit so much, and wish I could read what you have to say, but something is going on with my computer, and until I can get the issue addressed, this may continue. Please keep visiting! Also, often I cannot make a comment on some posts I look at, particularly those who ask for me to show I am a guest. I have noticed sometimes someone can only comment in the "Reply" section of another comment...if that's all that works, then that's fine! Let's keep visiting no matter what happens, and know we are touching each other with our creativity and thoughts and images even when we can't get (or leave) feedback. God bless you my dear blogger friends!

Back at Fort Vancouver

We were over an hour early for my husband's Dr. appt in Vancouver, WA at the Veterans Admin. and since it's right next to historic Ft. Vancouver we decided to drive over there for a bit.  I shared posts about the Fort HERE and HERE last year, focusing then on the early years of exploration and trade.  Anyway, there was just enough time to hit the gift shop, and then drive around a little bit on the grounds.  Here I focus on the more recent history of the Fort.  Sharing our time there last week with Mersad's Through My Lens, and Tom's Tuesday Treasures:

The Fort was in use from 1849 to the present, becoming Vancouver Barracks in 1879.  Built in 1849, the Grant House on Vancouver Barracks' Officers' Row initially served as the post's Headquarters and Commanding Officer's residence. Today, the historic house is directly adjacent to Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, managed by the City of Vancouver, and home to a modern restaurant.

The Marshall House, named for General George Marshall is a highlight on Officer's Row.  It is of the Queen Anne style, built in 1886.
